Focus: Loose Fit - Guitarist Max Edgar's fav live footage
1. Prince - Live At the VMAs 1991
Don’t even talk to me if you don’t like Prince. Honestly, go take a long hard look in the mirror. This performance is one of my favs on the tube. It’s completely over the top and very NSFW!
2. Talking Heads - Born Under Punches, Live in Rome 1980
Great footage from the same era as the live album ‘The Name Of This Band Is Talking Heads’. For my money there’s no beating this line up with Adrian Belew and Bernie Worrell. The concept and choreography of Stop Making Sense is cool and all, but the energy in the band around this time is just through the roof.
3. The Slits - Man Next Door - Berlin 1981
The Slits v2.0 in Berlin around the same time their largely forgotten second album came out. By this time Palmolive had left, Bruce Smith (The Pop Group, Maximum Joy etc) was on drums and Neneh Cherry was also in the band.
4. Model Citizen - @ Good God Small Club 15/12/12
A Sydney band I loved for the short time they were around. Apparently there is a whole album of these perfect New Order-esque pop tunes in the can, but it’ll never see the light of day. So, these couple of crappy youtube vids are all that’s left. Still good!
5. Canine - Blackwire Records
Great footage of one of my favourite bands at my favourite venue. I (and many others) have lots of fond memories of this place. Check the rest of ZK Photo’s youtube channel for more excellent Sydney punk (and related) content.
